Anne-Marie Imafidon

Anne-Marie Osawemwenze Ore-Ofe Imafidon MBE is a British-Nigerian computer scientist, mathematician, and social entrepreneur. Born on July 27, 1990, in London, England, she has become a prominent figure in promoting diversity in STEM fields.

About Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE

Early Life and Education:

  • Showed exceptional aptitude for mathematics and technology from a young age
  • At 11, became the youngest girl ever to pass A-level computing
  • At 20, received her Master’s Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Oxford

Professional Career:

  • Held technical positions at Goldman Sachs, Hewlett-Packard, and Deutsche Bank
  • In 2013, co-founded Stemettes, a social enterprise promoting women and non-binary people in STEM fields
  • CEO of Stemettes, also known as the “Head Stemette”

Stemettes:

  • Has reached over 60,000 young people across Europe
  • Offers workshops, hackathons, mentoring programs, and online resources
  • Created the Outbox Incubator, the world’s first technology incubator for adolescent girls

Awards and Recognition:

  • Awarded an MBE in 2017 for services to young women and STEM sectors
  • Named the most influential woman in tech in the UK by Computer Weekly in 2020
  • Received numerous honorary doctorates from UK universities
  • Served as the 2022-2023 President of the British Science Association
